According to Bloomberg, the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) is in discussions with several asset management companies to list their Bitcoin (BTC) Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). Currently, only VanEck has officially launched a BTC ETF. However, local Australian companies, BetaShares Holdings Pty and DigitalX Ltd., have also submitted applications for BTC ETFs to the ASX.
Rebecca Sin, a senior ETF analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, stated that the cryptocurrency ETF market in the Asia-Pacific region has enormous potential and is expected to exceed $3 billion in the next few years. Sin added that if Australia, Hong Kong, and South Korea allow the listing of cryptocurrency ETFs, the market share in these regions could be evenly distributed.
