Casa co-founder Jameson Lopp has tracked the United States government’s Bitcoin sales, revealing that since 2014, they have confiscated and sold at least 195,091 bitcoins, yielding profits exceeding $366 million.
According to data from Bitcoin Treasuries, the US government currently holds 213,546 bitcoins, valued at over $13 billion at current market prices, making it one of the world’s largest Bitcoin holders. Meanwhile, the German government ranks as the world’s fourth-largest sovereign holder of bitcoins, following China and the UK, with holdings totaling 46,359 bitcoins.
