Dimo Shifts Ethereum Networks on Drive-and-Earn Platform, Switching from Polygon to Base

Dimo, a platform for developers to build apps and enable car drivers to monetize their data, is migrating from Polygon to Coinbase’s Base, according to the developers. Co-founder Rob Solomon sees this move as an opportunity for valuable partnerships. Dimo aims to create a “global API layer for cars” that will make every car on earth smart and programmable. This could lead to a future with AI car mechanics, smart parking garages, and users earning money from selling their data. Dimo has previously been building on Polygon but has decided to switch to the Base layer-2 chain. Solomon believes that this move will enable deeper collaborations, citing Cario, Blackbird, and Daylight as potential partners. The migration is expected to take place in late 2025, and users will likely not need to take any action. Base, created by Coinbase, is an Ethereum layer-2 scaling network and serves as the on-chain home for the exchange’s products. Dimo sees Base as a logical choice due to its credibility and connections with large enterprises. Dimo believes that Base’s strong foundation, with support from projects like Chainlink, Etherscan, and Aave, will help them achieve their long-term goal of becoming an integral part of every car company. Solomon envisions a future where Dimo’s blockchain-based Vehicle ID system replaces VINs and becomes the new standard for registrations, ownership, and payments. Dimo believes that this vision is more easily realized on Base.
