Bitcoin Core has disclosed two security vulnerabilities that could potentially impact the stability of the Bitcoin network. The first vulnerability, classified as high severity, could result in network crashes through a garbage message attack. The second vulnerability, of lower severity, is related to the Miniupnp library, which is commonly used by Bitcoin Core, and could lead to insufficient memory in nodes. Both vulnerabilities have been addressed in the Bitcoin Core v22.0 released in 2021, but were only recently disclosed to the public.
