According to Brian Roberts, the Head of Securities Product Development at the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, data reveals that three virtual asset futures ETFs investing in Bitcoin and Ethereum futures were listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange after being approved by the China Securities Regulatory Commission on October 31, 2022. Since their launch, these ETFs have been well-received by investors and have experienced active trading. The average daily trading volume has increased from 8.9 million Hong Kong dollars in 2023 to 51.3 million Hong Kong dollars in the first quarter of 2024. They have also attracted a capital inflow of 529 million Hong Kong dollars. As of the end of March 2024, the total market value has reached 1.2 billion Hong Kong dollars, representing a year-on-year growth of 255%.
