According to data compiled by Galaxy Research, in the first quarter of 2024, venture capital firms specializing in cryptocurrency and blockchain invested $2.49 billion (a 29% increase compared to the previous quarter), completing a total of 603 transactions (a 68% increase compared to the previous quarter). This marks the first growth in investment capital and transaction volume in three quarters.
Investment activities in the industry were mainly focused on infrastructure, accounting for 24% of the total capital raised this quarter, including a $100 million financing for EigenLayer. Additionally, Web3 and trading sectors accounted for 21% and 17% of the total capital respectively.
In terms of geographical distribution, the United States remains the dominant force in cryptocurrency venture capital, with US startups participating in 37.3% of all transactions and receiving 42.9% of investment capital. Singapore follows closely behind, accounting for 10.8% of the total transactions, while the United Kingdom and Switzerland account for 10.2% and 3.5% respectively. Hong Kong accounts for 3.2%.
