In a breaking news, the Attorney General of New York, Letitia James, has filed a lawsuit against two cryptocurrency companies and their main founders (Cynthia and Eddy Petion) for allegedly running two pyramid schemes targeting Haitian immigrants in the United States.

According to the complaint filed on Thursday, these two schemes – AWS Mining and NovaTechFX – swindled investors out of over $1 billion through methods such as WhatsApp group chats.

James accuses AWS Mining, NovaTech, the Petions, and other designated founders of violating New York’s strict anti-fraud Martin Act, as well as engaging in repeated and sustained fraud and unlawful conduct. The lawsuit seeks damages and restitution for the victims, as well as a permanent injunction barring the defendants from participating in other investment schemes.
