Compared to the previous news, according to The Block, crypto projects have distributed around 4 billion US dollars worth of airdrops to users since the beginning of the year.
Based on the amount of tokens distributed and average prices, the top three airdrops are Jupiter, Starknet, and Notcoin, each worth approximately 1 billion US dollars. Following closely behind are Solana and Ethereum-based projects such as Wormhole, Ether.fi, FriendTech, and Wen.
There are expected to be several cryptocurrency airdrops this year, with the ZKsync airdrop for Ethereum’s Layer 2 network scheduled for next week. The airdrop for the decentralized exchange Zeta Markets based on Solana will take place in June. The airdrop for the Ethereum staking protocol EigenLayer has already begun, but tokens cannot be transferred until later this year. Additionally, the cross-chain messaging protocol LayerZero is still preparing for its airdrop, but a specific date has not yet been announced.
