After the attacker failed to return the funds borrowed from UwU Lend, the protocol is taking another step to search for the hacker. According to the Input Data Message (IDM) on Ethereum, UwU Lend has set a $5 million ETH bounty for the “first identifier and finder” of the exploiters and added, “no need to recover funds or costs.”
Previously, the protocol had discussed setting a bounty directly with the exploiters. Attackers could keep 20% of what they stole if they return 80%. If the exploiters comply, the protocol states that it will not pursue the matter further and will not involve law enforcement.
Attackers must return the funds by 1 pm on Wednesday (US Eastern Time). However, in a message sent to the attackers on Thursday, UwU Lend wrote, “The deadline for returning the funds you stole has passed.”
