Coinbase continues to seek access to SEC Chair Gary Genslers personal email

Coinbase, a leading cryptocurrency exchange in the United States, continues to seek access to personal communication information of Gary Gensler, the chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), describing it as a “proper source of discovery” in their ongoing battle with financial regulatory agencies. The SEC attempted to block Coinbase’s request in a letter to District Court Judge Katherine Failla on June 28, claiming that they rejected this position and proposal. In a letter submitted on July 3, Coinbase questioned this, stating that Gensler’s personal communications regarding the regulation of digital assets and cryptocurrency exchanges during his tenure at the SEC are at the core of Coinbase’s fair notice defense. Coinbase initially requested Gensler to provide personal communications related to the case in April, including all documents related to cryptocurrencies since 2017.
