On May 5th, the ETHGlobal Sydney Hackathon announced the 8 projects that made it to the finals, competing for a total prize pool of $100,000. The projects are Relief Link, HoverChain, Retake//Regen, Cache Coherence, 0xPoll, Roman Kyoto, Zeke, and AlibudaHabitBuilder. In this article, we will provide you with information about each of these projects.
Relief Link is an innovative service designed to automatically distribute aid immediately after a disaster occurs, using blockchain technology for efficient and secure operations. The project integrates Chainlink oracles for real-time disaster monitoring and automated transactions, ensuring timely assistance to affected individuals within a specific range. The system attracts users through the abstraction of accounts from Unlimit and third-party networks, making it convenient for even those who are new to cryptocurrencies to use fiat currency options.
Relief Link uses Worldcoin for identity verification to maintain system integrity and prevent fraud, ensuring that each verified user receives aid once. The Relief Link platform utilizes the PredictHQ API to track and analyze the impact of various natural disasters within a 100 km radius of user registration locations, such as floods, fires, and earthquakes. This data is visualized on the website, providing insights into recent disaster trends in the Asia-Pacific region.
HoverChain is a Google Chrome extension tool that allows easy access to blockchain data. By simply selecting a blockchain identifier, such as an Ethereum address or contract, a detailed pop-up window will display important statistics such as wallet balance, recent transactions, and available smart contract interactions. HoverChain utilizes the Alchemy API and Mantle Block Explorer API to access the latest blockchain data.
Retake//Regen is a public product of Eigenlayer AVS that enables Ethereum validators to offset a small portion of the network’s carbon emissions by committing to purchase and refund high-quality carbon credits. Validators register with Restake//Regen AVS and choose a percentage commitment to the overall Ethereum network (between 0.0001% and 1%) and must send the required amount of CHAR to the Restake//Regen funding pool contract every epoch (28 days) and periodically withdraw it. Receipts for each donation are stored in the funding pool.
Cache Coherence utilizes CCIP and World Coin extension account abstraction smart wallet to recover lost keys. Cache Coherence is an extension of the EIP-4337 account abstraction smart contract wallet that can be deployed on any EVM chain. The wallet includes setting up a WorldCoin ID, which provides a secondary form of identity verification that can be used as a recovery method in case of key loss. However, the number of blockchains supporting the WorldCoin login verification method is limited. Therefore, CCIP acts as a bridge between the account wallet and the WorldCoin validator. CCIP is bidirectional, allowing proofs to be sent from the account to WorldCoin. After successful or failed validation, the response is sent back to the account via CCIP.
0xPoll is a political voting platform aimed at creating an application that allows users to associate their WorldID with voter registry details and interact with a voting platform that reflects legislation in the Australian federal parliament without revealing any personal information. 0xPoll enables users to vote on individual legislations, with the voting results collected at the voter level for effective lobbying of incumbent lawmakers.
Roman Kyoto is a cross-chain multi-asset shielded pool (MASP) that allows users to deposit and privately transfer ERC-20 tokens. Users can withdraw tokens from the pool at any time and can withdraw the desired amount, up to the current balance in the MASP. Currently, Roman Kyoto only supports private single-chain deposits, withdrawals, and transfers. The CCIP contract has been created but requires additional integration for cross-chain private transfers.
Zeke is the first ZK rollup-based PayPal on/off-ramp solution with native Telegram integration and account abstraction for a seamless user experience. Zeke allows users to enter (convert fiat currency to stablecoin) and exit (convert stablecoin to fiat currency) through off-chain payment channels, such as Venmo and PayPal, via a Telegram Bot in a fully decentralized peer-to-peer manner.
Current fiat on/off-ramp providers face issues with cumbersome user processes, inconvenience, and the need for extensive KYC data input. Zeke aims to address these issues by providing users with an easy-to-use interface and operability through a Telegram Bot.
AlibudaHabitBuilder encourages people to develop new habits through a unique pledging system. Users can register by clicking three times on the Base smart wallet. To participate in the challenge, users pledge a certain amount of funds as a commitment to the habits they wish to develop.
AlibudaHabitBuilder offers two pathways for habit development: one targeting mental health and another targeting physical health. To improve mental health, participants are encouraged to enjoy nature and engage in offline interactions with friends. Participation can be confirmed by clicking an ARX NFC at designated locations. For physical health, the project is integrating with Strava so that exercise records can be directly logged into Alibuda. Participants who maintain these habits have the opportunity to win NFTs and the funds of those who fail.
If participants fail to maintain their habits, 50% of their funds will automatically be used for public goods. The remaining 50% is used to reward those who stick to their habits.
