In a speech at the FT Live Cryptocurrency and Digital Asset Summit in London, Joseph Lubin, co-founder of Ethereum, criticized the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for intentionally obstructing innovation, which he believes threatens the existing financial landscape in the United States. Lubin stated, “The SEC seems to have reclassified ETH as a security without telling anyone that this is actually the case. They are taking a series of strategic enforcement actions instead of having open discussions and clear rule-making. The SEC may not want to see an innovation wave that truly disrupts the status quo.”
